Dutch company QuantWare has announced that it will begin selling quantum processors based on Transmon qubits, which form the basis of similar machines from Google, IBM and Rigetti.
Such qubits, unfortunately, can only operate at temperatures requiring liquid helium and specialized cooling equipment. The Soprano processor is based on five Transmon qubits. The accuracy of each of them is 99.9%.
Various institutions, including educational institutions, will be able to buy such a processor. Customers will be able to get the processors completely finished or ask for customization of the target parameters.
The company intends to increase the number of qubits by two to four times each year over the next few years. In 2025, QuantWare expects some kind of tipping point, after which quantum computers will become more widespread.
How much Soprano costs is unknown.
