The professor told at what level of antibodies to be vaccinated against coronavirus

Professor of the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University, Doctor of Biological Sciences Ancha Baranova told at what level of antibodies to be vaccinated against coronavirus. According to her, the protection that the vaccine gives is better than after the disease itself, reports TASS.

The expert recalled that currently there are two types of tests for

antibodies. One of them is the Italian Liason with a scale from 15 to 400, where a level of 200-300 is considered a good result. Then we can assume that a person has good immunity from coronavirus. But there was also another test – Quant. It detects antibodies that specifically neutralize the coronavirus. He has a scale from 50 to 40,000.

“If the indicator is above 1,300 – immunity is good, if from 500 to 1,300 – there is a risk of getting sick, if less than 500 – you need to be vaccinated or revaccinated,” said the professor.

Baranova added that there is no general rule for changing the level of antibodies from coronavirus in the human body. According to her, for some people it can remain at a high level for a long time, for others it quickly decreases.

“You can only determine whether you belong to a particular category by measuring,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Health has developed recommendations for revaccination against coronavirus. It is noted that during the period of increasing incidence, this should be done once every six months, in a quiet time – once a year. It is also said that the Indian strain is more contagious, however, booster vaccination allows the body to develop sufficient levels of antibodies in the blood to protect against all mutations of the infection.
