Vice-President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Kalervo Kummola assessed the likelihood of transferring the World Championship from Belarus to Russia. His words are quoted by the Finnish TV channel MTV Uutiset.
Kummola said that the transfer of matches to Moscow is unlikely due to the situation with a large number of cases of coronavirus infection in Russia. He also stressed that Russia is one of the few countries that supports the current President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, whose actions are dissatisfied with the world community. “It would be absurd if Russia hosted the World Cup,” the IIHF representative summed up.
