The Prime Minister of Lebanon has called the cause of the explosion in Beirut

The Prime Minister of Lebanon Hassan Diyab called the cause of the explosion in Beirut. This was reported in the Twitter account of the office of the President.

According to him, the explosion occurred due to storage in a warehouse in the seaport capital of 2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate for six years. When this volatile substance was there no preventive measures and threatened the safety of citizens that Diyab considered invalid.

“I will not rest until we find the one responsible for what happened to bring him to justice and impose on him the most severe punishment”, — the President promised.

He proposed to form a Commission to investigate the explosion, which 48 hours will need to determine the cause of the accident and identify responsible.

Earlier, the Lebanese channel LBC International reported that the explosion 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate occurred at the time of carrying out of welding works near the port of Beirut on the evening of 4 August. Killed at least 70 people, more than 2,700 were injured. Affected many areas of the city, including were hurt in the blast at the Russian Embassy.
