French presidential candidate from the right-wing National Unification party Marine Le Pen has promised to withdraw the country from NATO if elected. Her words at a meeting with voters are reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Le Pen, France should “protect its interests and get out of the logic of military blocs.” “Therefore, we will withdraw from the NATO joint command so that we can no longer be drawn into other people’s conflicts,” she said.
In addition, the politician proposed to replace the European Union with the European Alliance of Nations. She stressed that the functioning of the alliance “will be based on the sovereignty of peoples.”
Earlier, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin called Marine Le Pen the most dangerous person for the country. According to him, her election as head of state will lead to disagreements in the republic and civil war.
