Tokayev introduced a state of emergency in Mangistau and Almaty regions until January 19

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has introduced a state of emergency (PE) in the Almaty region. TASS reports.
In this regard, a curfew will be introduced in the region from 23:00 to 7:00, the head of the police department of the Almaty region, Serik Kudebayev, has been appointed commandant of the region.
Earlier, in connection with the protests in Kazakhstan, the state of emergency was introduced on January 5 in Alma-Ata and in the Mangistau region. It will run until midnight on January 19th.
Protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2 due to an increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. The protesters demanded that the first president of the republic, Nursultan Nazarbayev, leave politics.
On Tuesday, January 4, clashes between protesters and security forces began, and riots took place in other cities of the country. Later Tokayev accepted the resignation of the government.
