Newcastle have decided to sue the English Premier League (Premier League) for disrupting the sale of the club to a group of Saudi Arabian investors. Reported by The Guardian.
According to the source, current team owner Mike Ashley hired two London lawyers for the trial. The Newcastle chief has a claim against the league's chief executive, Richard Masters. According to Ashley, the actions of the functionary during the negotiations led to the breakdown of the deal. The Premier League itself refuses to admit its guilt that the purchase did not take place.
Investors from Saudi Arabia refused to buy Newcastle in early August, the deal was estimated at 300 million pounds. Ashley has owned the club for 13 years.
Last season, the Magpies finished 13th in the Premier League. Newcastle started the current championship with an away victory over West Ham (2: 0).
