The preliminary results of the autopsy of the former player and coach of the Argentine national team Diego Maradona became known: the cause of his death was acute heart failure, which caused pulmonary edema. The portal Infobae.com reports.
This conclusion is contained in the report drawn up after the autopsy.
“Acute heart failure in a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy that caused acute pulmonary edema,” the report says. It is also specified that on November 3, Maradona underwent surgery due to a subdural hematoma, on November 11 he was discharged from the hospital.
Earlier, Maradona's lawyer said that the footballer died of a heart attack. He suffered cardiac arrest and was admitted to hospital in serious condition on 25 November.
Maradona's death became known on November 25. The information was confirmed by his lawyer, and the first to report the incident were the journalists of the Argentinean Clarin.
