As of Thursday, January 27, in Ukraine, the power units of the Zaporozhye and Khmelnitsky nuclear power plants were connected to the network after an emergency shutdown.
This was reported in the press service of the state enterprise NAEK Energoatom.
So, on Tuesday, January 25, it was reported that the Khmelnitsky NPP disconnected the first power unit from the power grid due to the activation of protection. First, the protection of the block transformer worked, and then the reactor plant.
As Energoatom assured, there were no radiation changes or negative consequences for the environment, the safety of nuclear power plants and personnel. A specially created commission will find out the causes of the incident.
To date, the first power unit of the Khmelnitsky NPP has already been connected to the power grid.
As for the Zaporozhye NPP, on January 25 there was a disconnection from the grid of the fourth power unit for the repair of the turbine generator (elimination of gas leakiness of the cooling system). On the evening of January 26, this power unit started working again in the power grid.
It should be noted that against the background of the shutdown of two power units on January 25, Ukraine sent a request for emergency assistance from the power system of Belarus. According to Ukrenergo, the total volume of this assistance amounted to 650 MWH.
Ukrenergo explained that the request for emergency assistance was required to save available reserves and sustainably cover the peaks of electricity consumption in Ukraine.
The other day, the Ministry of Energy reported that they want to launch all 15 NPP units by the end of the week. Currently, 14 power units out of 15 available are operating.
