The head of the Russian Orthodox Church called for the adoption of a federal law on abortion in Russia.
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church and Putin’s accomplice, Patriarch Kirill, called for the adoption of a federal law in the Russian Federation on punishment for “inducing” women to have an abortion.
The Moscow Times reports this.
The Patriarch doubted that doctors recommend terminating a pregnancy based solely on medical indications. In his opinion, sometimes this happens “for commercial reasons”, which is a crime.
Kirill also emphasized that the all-Russian ban on “inducement” to abortion is especially relevant in the context of the current demographic crisis in the Russian Federation.
“We need more people. This fact is obvious, everyone admits it: both politicians and sociologists… And the population will increase simply by moving a magic wand if we solve this problem – we learn to dissuade women from having abortions. The statistics will immediately go up,” said the patriarch.
Previously, two Russian regions introduced fines for inducing women to terminate their pregnancies. In Mordovia, individuals will have to pay 5-10 thousand rubles ($40-80) for such a violation, and in the Tver region – 3-5 thousand rubles ($25-40). The maximum fine for legal entities is 200 thousand rubles ($1,600) in both regions.
Let us remember that a double blow for Russian demography is that Russian men in the “primary childbearing age” die in the war in Ukraine or flee from mobilization abroad.
