Pope Francis shared a meal with a group of transgender women, many of whom are sex workers who have emigrated from South America. The luncheon was organized by the Catholic Church on the occasion of World Poor Day.

“Previously, the church was closed to us. They didn’t perceive us as normal people, they perceived us as the devil,” said one of the participants in this action.
