Russian political scientist Alexander Nosovich warned about the danger of increasing the NATO infrastructure in the east, the Izvestia newspaper reports.
According to Nosovich, in the place where a thousand American soldiers are currently stationed, “tomorrow roads, barracks and communications will allow to accommodate a hundred thousand.” “And overseas they understand perfectly well what the essence of the matter is, but they turn on a fool to set negotiating positions,” he said.
At the same time, Poland and the Baltic states “as subjects in this bargaining are absent,” the political scientist is sure. “Poland and the Baltic States are the cards in the American deck playing with Putin. The cards, by the way, are trump cards, important. But even the ace of trumps is not a player,” he concluded.
Earlier, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, said that NATO’s expansion to the east is a “great success story.” According to him, this contributed to the spread of freedom and democracy in Europe.
