Political scientist Dmitry Solonnikov, in an interview with REN TV, called the main goal pursued by Kiev, seeking to organize a meeting with Russia and other countries participating in the Vienna Document. In his opinion, this meeting is another attempt by Ukraine to denigrate Russia.
“Ukraine sets unrealistic demands, they will not be met. Accordingly, Russia will again be blamed for saying that the Russian Federation does not allow the use of the Vienna Documents to build confidence, which means it does not contribute to this, increasing aggressiveness towards Ukraine. This is the diplomatic wording that Kiev can use,” the expert said.
He noted that it is Western countries that are actively supplying Ukraine with weapons, and also stressed that at present it is not Russia that is transferring its military to other states. He said that Kiev is concentrating forces in the Donbass, but Ukrainian diplomats will again try to turn the situation around in such a way that Moscow will be to blame.
Earlier, the Figaro newspaper, citing a diplomatic source at the Elysee Palace, reported that the White House had been talking about an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine for almost two months. However, France assessed the likelihood of an escalation and decided to be more cautious in this area, unlike Washington.
