Political scientist Shen Yi called the condition for the recognition by the current US President Donald Trump of defeat in the presidential elections. A professor at Fudan University told RIA Novosti about this.
The expert believes that Trump will surrender only when the last vote is counted. He noted that this is why voting results may not appear so quickly.
Shen Yi stressed that any announcement of an election winner before the official results could lead to riots and a constitutional crisis. He added that at the moment neither side is ready to admit defeat.
Earlier, political scientist Lev Sokolschik predicted a “split” in the United States after the presidential elections in the country. According to him, no matter the outcome of the vote, the United States will remain a “split” country, since reaching a consensus on a number of key issues is not possible. He noted that “unprecedented polarization” is being observed in the country, and radicalism is becoming the new norm.
November 3 is general election day in the United States. Citizens elect a president and vice president, and 35 senators, the entire House of Representatives, 13 governors and local government representatives will be elected. The current head of state, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden, who served as vice president under Barack Obama, are fighting for the top post.
