Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Czeslaw Sekierski agreed to the implementation of all farmers' demands.
Government Poland agreed with farmers blocking the road for truck traffic near the Medika-Shegini checkpoint to suspend the protest in this place for an indefinite period.
About the signing of an agreement between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Czeslaw Sekierski and the leader of the agrarian organization “Deceived Village” Roman Kondrov reported during a briefing in In Rzeszow on Saturday, the voivode of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Teresa Kubas-Gul, reports Ukrinform.
“From the moment of signing the agreement, the protest at the Meditse checkpoint will be suspended for the period necessary for legal changes, notification and the period necessary for the implementation of additional changes,” the agreement between the parties states.< /p>
The minister agreed to implement all the farmers' demands. Polish farmers have demanded subsidies for the purchase of corn, keeping the agricultural tax this year at the 2023 level and extending the possibility of obtaining loans to ensure liquidity. Minister Sekierski and his deputy Michal Kolodziejczak have previously repeatedly stated that the ministry agrees to fulfill all the demands of farmers.
What preceded
Recall that on January 4, on the road in front of the Medika checkpoint, adjacent to the Ukrainian checkpoint Shegini, farmers resumed blocking traffic for freight transport, which was suspended for the Christmas holidays from December 24th. The farmers said they had not received the appropriate written assurances signed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk that their demands had been met. This became the basis for the restoration of the border blockade on January 4.
On the morning of January 5, there are two thousand trucks in queues at blocked checkpoints in Ukraine and Poland. On sections of the border with other countries, truck traffic is not blocked. In particular, blocking of the directions of checkpoints continues “Rava-Ruska-Hrebene”, “Krakovets-Korcheva”, “Yagodin-Dorohusk”, border guards report.
November 6, 2023 Polish carriers blocked the movement of trucks on the border with Ukraine at the Yagodin – Dorogusk and Krakovets – Korczowa checkpoints , “Rava-Russkaya – Khrebene”. On November 23, Polish farmers joined them at the Shegini-Medika checkpoint, putting forward their demands.
