Police officers detained a gang of apartment thieves who operated on the territory of the Nikolaev region.
Attackers chose the houses of wealthy farmers, into which they entered by squeezing metal-plastic windows, the local department of the National Police reported.
According to law enforcement officers, on December 18 they received a message from a resident of Novy Bug about the theft of gold jewelry from her house … An investigative and operational group arrived at the scene and immediately began search activities.

Operatives quickly installed the suspects' car and their approximate route. Soon they were all arrested.
According to the deputy head of the local criminal investigation department Anton Medvedev, the group had been operating in the region for a long time.
In particular, a few days earlier, they similarly entered two more houses – in one of them they did not find anything, and from the second they took out jewelry for 150 thousand UAH.
He added that in one of the places where attackers constantly met, an ambush was set up. The thieves turned out to be two of the Nikolaev region, aged 59 and 29.
– We carried out a number of operational-search measures: we identified the thieves and their cars – Toyota and Mercedes. Having documented the criminal activities of two previously convicted men, we planned a special operation to arrest them with the involvement of special forces, & # 8212; said Medvedev.
During a search of one of the cars in which the thieves were moving, the police found stolen jewelry, special tools, lockpicks for breaking windows, masks, gloves, mobile phones and other evidence of their crimes .
In addition, weapons, cartridges, various license plates, jewelry, as well as money in hryvnia and other currencies were found at the place of residence of the apartment owners, as well as in their apartments and garages.
< p> Attackers announced suspicion under Part 3 of Article 185 ( Burglary ) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Men face up to six years in prison, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided.
