On Friday, a California Highway Patrol spokesman stopped a Toyota Prius with a Starlink satellite internet dish on the hood. The policeman said the antenna was a visual obstacle and fined the driver.
The policeman asked if the driver's plate was getting in the way while driving. He replied that only when he turns to the right. The driver also explained that he had installed an antenna to provide a Wi-Fi connection for work. The policeman told him that it was illegal to install a satellite dish on the hood of a car.
As a reminder, the Starlink project is currently in beta testing with 70,000 users in 12 countries. Beta testers have to pay $ 99 a month, and they also bought a $ 499 kit that consists of a satellite dish and a Wi-Fi router.
