The police are conducting searches in the Novosibirsk Institute of Laser Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This was announced to RBC by its director Alexei Taichenachev.
“Searches are being carried out, so far I cannot give any more comments. The searches are being carried out by the police, ”he said.
“The information is being specified,” the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Novosibirsk Region told RBC.
The local newspaper Continent Siberia writes that the investigative actions are being carried out within the framework of the criminal case brought against Taichenachev. He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 285 of the Criminal Code (abuse of office).
According to the sources of the publication, in 2017 the institute entered into an agreement with Optogard-Nanotech LLC for the implementation of research and development work in the amount of 6.2 million rubles. For the work performed, the company transferred over 4.6 million rubles to the institute. According to the investigators, after that Taichenachev, at the request of the scientific director of the institute, Sergei Bagaev (he was the director of the institute until 2016), illegally concluded a deliberately imaginary agreement between the institute and the Intersectoral Scientific and Technical Association “Siberian Laser Center” (MNTA “SLC”), where Bagaev is listed general director, to perform work related to the previous contract, for 2 million rubles, knowing that the organization does not have its own capacities to fulfill obligations under the contract.
As a result, the institute received less than 2 million rubles.
