The Pentagon will send 3,000 additional troops to Poland in the coming days. This information was confirmed to RIA Novosti by a representative of the US Defense Department.
It is noted that US troops will arrive in Poland early next week and will be there on a temporary basis. At the same time, about two-thirds of the 1,700 US military of the first group sent to strengthen the defense of Poland have already arrived in the country.
According to Reuters, this will be done in order to “try to reassure NATO allies.” The deployment will come from the 82nd Airborne Division and not from US forces in Europe, sources told the agency.
On February 10, 350 British marines arrived in Poland in order to strengthen the eastern flank of NATO because of the allegedly impending Russian invasion of Ukraine. After the increase in numbers, the British contingent on Polish territory would be over 600 soldiers.
