Russian troops are slowly approaching the borders of Ukraine. This statement was made by the head of the US Department of Defense Lloyd Austin, reports Reuters.
The Pentagon chief noted that units of the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) replenish stocks of donor blood. In addition, US observers are noticing more combat aircraft escorting army units. According to him, cyber attacks on Ukraine were also carried out according to the “Russian scenario”.
“Not so long ago I was a soldier myself. I know firsthand that such things are not done without a reason. And you certainly don’t do them if you are going to pack up and go home,” Austin said, commenting on the Kremlin’s statements that the Russian army is being withdrawn from the Ukrainian borders to places of permanent deployment.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Grushko said that NATO can calm down about the buildup of Russian troops near the borders of Ukraine, as they are already completing military exercises and retreating to their bases. He also noted that the alliance should not be afraid for its eastern flank, in contrast to the southern one, where “you have to deal with the consequences of your own interventions.”
