Pentagon spokesman Kirby: there is still time to resolve the crisis around Ukraine
The United States agreed with the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about maintaining the chances for a negotiated solution to the Ukrainian crisis. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told CNN.
According to him, the United States also believes that there is “time and space” left for a diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian issue. “We welcome the views expressed by Minister Lavrov. We agree with that,” he said.
On February 14, Lavrov, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressed confidence in the preservation of chances for a negotiated solution to security problems. “Our consistent explanatory work and commitment to clarifying our case and being ready to listen to serious counterarguments, it seems to me that our possibilities are far from exhausted. They (discussions) should not continue indefinitely, but at this stage I would suggest continuing and building them up, ”the Foreign Minister added.
