~6 0~p>The head of WHO does not rule out that a pandemic in the world could happen again due to "disease X".
WHO warns that the world must prepare for future unknown diseases, so-called “Diseases X”.
This was stated in Davos by the head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reports The Guardian.
He explains that the idea of the so-called “disease X” not new. WHO has been using this term since 2018.
Ghebreyes says WHO was preparing for a virus similar to COVID-19 in the 2020 pandemic. He does not rule out that this could happen again.
“You could even call COVID-19 the first 'Disease X,' and it could happen again,” he said.
WHO Director stressed the need to be prepared for “unpredictable” events.
“It's better to predict what might happen because it has happened many times in our history and prepare for it. We shouldn't face things unprepared. We can also prepare for some unknown things,” he explained .
He specified that such preparations include an early warning system, as well as systems that can be expanded when there is an urgent need for more medical space and manpower.
Recall that we previously reported that the new “disease X” may be 20 times more deadly than COVID-19.
