The Orionids Starfall will reach maximum activity on the night of October 22
The press service of the Moscow Planetarium announced that the Orionids meteor shower will peak on Thursday night, TASS reports.
“This is a periodic meteor shower of moderate strength, with peak activity of about 20 meteors per hour. Orionids' activity often remains almost at the same level for several subsequent nights after the peak, ”the scientists specified.
You can watch the stream from midnight to dawn over the southeastern horizon.
Recall that the Orionid stream is observed annually from October 2 to November 7 and reaches its maximum activity on October 21-22.
Orionids have a 12-year cycle of activity. Astronomers associate this periodicity with the impact of Jupiter, due to the gravity of which meteor particles are unevenly distributed along the orbit of Halley's comet.
