The organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest supported the decision of the Dutch authorities to allow spectators to participate in the international song contest. This was reported on the website of the competition.
“We welcome this decision by the Dutch government and the possibility that we can invite fans to join us when we get back to the Eurovision Song Contest,” said Contest Executive Director Martin Osterdahl.
He also noted that the organizers will consider the options currently available and will announce more detailed information on the schedule of the event in the coming weeks.
According to the broadcaster NOS, the Dutch authorities are planning an experiment to find out how large events can be safely hosted with an audience. At the same time, the publication noted that at all nine shows within the framework of Eurovision – six rehearsals, two semifinals and the final – there are restrictions on the number of viewers – up to 3.5 thousand people. Also, to get to the competition, you must have a negative PCR test for coronavirus.
Eurovision 2021 will be held from 18 to 22 May in the Netherlands (Rotterdam). This country won the right to host the competition in 2019, but in 2020 Eurovision was canceled for the first time in its history due to a pandemic.
Russia will be represented at the competition by the singer of Tajik origin Manizha with the song Russian Woman (“Russian Woman”).
