Anna Kiesenhofer will contest her first race since Tokyo at the EM in Trento on Thursday.

On Thursday, Anna Kiesenhofer will contest her first time trial race since the sensational triumph in the Tokyo road race at the end of July. In the previous year, the Lower Austrian finished eleventh in the fight against the clock, in 2019 she was fifth. Due to the hype about her person in recent times, she does not expect a top spot this time.

“There has been a lot on the program for me since returning from Japan, so I am not expecting an absolute top result. After focusing very much on the Olympic road race, the EM is now a determination of where I am in the time trial,” said Kiesenhofer the competition over 22.4 km. The defending champion is Anna van der Breggen from the Netherlands, and Annemiek van Vleuten's Oranje team is also the favorite in Saturday's road race.
