Japanese woman Kane Tanaka, who is the oldest person on the planet, on Saturday, January 2, celebrated her 118th birthday.
As the NHK TV channel reports, due to the spread of the coronavirus, Tanaka hardly ever meets with her relatives, and the workers of the nursing home where the long-liver lives congratulated her on her birthday. They sang a song to the birthday girl.
Kane Tanaka was born on January 2, 1903. She carries the title of the oldest inhabitant of the Earth since 2018.
Last November, Mainichi reported that Tanaka would take part in the Olympic torch relay for the Tokyo Games in May 2021. It is planned that she will overcome 200 meters in a wheelchair.
Recall, according to the Guinness Book of Records, the absolute record of longevity belongs to the Frenchwoman Jeanne Kalman, who died in August 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days.
