The death toll and casualties in the powerful earthquake in Izmir province in western Turkey has increased. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey Bekir Pakdemirli, reports the Onedio portal.
So, 12 people became victims of tremors, 522 more citizens were injured. Search and rescue work continues at the site of the destruction of 17 houses.
Earlier, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reported 438 victims. According to him, at present, five victims are undergoing surgery, and eight more are in the intensive care unit.
On the afternoon of October 30, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 occurred in the Aegean Sea. As a result, at least ten houses in Izmir were destroyed: buildings in the Bayrakli district of Izmir were damaged. Several houses were damaged, one building was completely destroyed. There is also destruction in the Izmir district of Bornova.
In addition, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 was recorded in Greece. Thus, one person was injured on the island of Samos. The earthquake occurred about 20 kilometers from the island.
