The Board of the Norwegian Ski Federation opposed the participation of Russian athletes in the upcoming competitions in the country. It is reported by NRK.
The organization said that they discussed the situation between Russia and Ukraine and how it affects the upcoming stages of the World Cup and the World Championships in Norway. “The message to Russia and Russian athletes is very clear: we do not want your participation,” the Norwegians said.
In response to this, the International Ski Federation in a comment to TASS stressed that it would not prohibit Russian athletes from participating in competitions under the auspices of the organization.
In March, Norway will host the Alpine Skiing, Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping World Cups. In addition, the country will host a stage of the World Cup in cross-country skiing in Drammen, as well as a marathon in Holmenkollen.
