During the Zapad-2021 military exercises at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the latest B-19 infantry fighting vehicles (BMP) with the Epoch combat module were used for the first time. The course of the maneuvers is being watched by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
– An armored group with a platoon of BMP B-19 was put into battle with the main forces of the simulated enemy entering the front line of defense of the military contingent units of the armed forces of Belarus, India, Mongolia and the Russian Federation in order to increase the activity and stability of the defense in the conduct of hostilities to hold important borders, positions and areas, – reads the message of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a new light special vehicle, Sarmat-2, was at the Zapad-2021 military exercises. The vehicle recently entered service with the Ulyanovsk Separate Guards Airborne Assault Formation of the Airborne Forces. The car is designed to operate at temperatures from minus 20 to plus 50 degrees. It can be used in mountainous areas and to overcome passes up to 4500 meters high.
Prior to this, Platform-M combat robots armed with grenade launchers were used for the first time in the exercises. In addition, robots were used for reconnaissance and making passages in minefields, which were installed by a conventional enemy.
