The Netherlands will soon send Ukraine 200 man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) Stinger. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Wopke Hoekstra, in a letter to the national parliament, TASS reports.
According to the Foreign Minister, this decision was made in response to a request from Kyiv. “The request has been carefully reviewed for compliance with arms export regulations, and the decision has been made on an expedited basis due to special circumstances,” the letter reads.
The minister also pointed out that the kingdom had already sent military aid to Ukraine last week, including sniper rifles, bulletproof vests and helmets. He added that Amsterdam is now experiencing difficulties with logistics, but seeks to rectify this situation as soon as possible.
Earlier it became known that the Netherlands called on the leadership of the European Union to impose sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin. “They will target Putin and his government, not Russia, we will have to hit him hard,” Prime Minister Mark Rutte explained.
