Due to the increase in the incidence of coronavirus in the Netherlands, a full lockdown will be introduced for five weeks. It will take effect from midnight on December 15th. This was stated by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, his words were reported by the NL Times.
“Less than a week ago, I said we were at a crossroads. The coronavirus is spreading even faster, ”Rutte said. Thus, essential stores, dry cleaners and libraries will remain open. Other retail outlets, as well as cinemas, restaurants, bars, theaters and zoos will be closed.
At the same time, hotels will be allowed to operate on condition that the restaurants in them are closed. All schoolchildren and students will be transferred to online education from December 16.
Rutte also urged the citizens of the country not to leave their homes unnecessarily, and also not to fly abroad unnecessarily.
Earlier it was reported that Lithuania was preparing for a full lockdown. There, from December 16, a restriction on movement is being introduced: all citizens will not be allowed to leave the house without a good reason, and it will be possible to leave the municipality only to work, receive medical care or for a funeral.
