The last time a young Ukrainian woman with her mother and newborn baby was seen was in a restaurant with an unknown woman, after which they all disappeared.
Last Thursday, March 7, a passerby discovered the body of a murdered young woman on the banks of the Rhine River near the German city of Hockenheim in Baden-Württemberg.
TSN.ua has collected everything that is known about the terrible incident.
The police were not immediately able to identify the woman, but further investigation revealed that she was a Ukrainian refugee – 27-year-old Margarita Razaz.
Police have not released details of the investigation, but said the woman's death was the result of “external violence.” It is known that the victim lived in Germany with his mother and newborn daughter, who disappeared after the murder.
What is known about Margarita Razaz and Marina Stetsenko
Before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, Rita Razaz lived in Kharkov and created edible bouquets. In the summer of 2023, she and her mother, 51-year-old Marina Stetsenko, left for Slovakia. A few months later, the women moved to Germany, where they received temporary protection and lived in a refugee shelter in the Rhine-Neckar region.
When Rita left Ukraine, she was pregnant, and in January 2024 she gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Mia. At the time of the brutal murder of her mother, the newborn girl was only 5 weeks old.
Judging by the surviving messages in refugee assistance groups on social networks, Rita was divorced and did not communicate with her ex-husband, so she was looking for advice and help in preparing documents for the child. In one of these groups, she met a woman who introduced herself as Inna and promised to help. It was with her that the Ukrainian women met in a restaurant in the city of Bruchsal before they disappeared.
According to friends of Rita and Marina, the accounts of this unknown woman on social networks and instant messengers also disappeared. No one knows her last name or exact address.
The police managed to find the missing girl
German police have put Marina Stetsenko and little Mia on the wanted list. Law enforcement officers turned to the public in search of witnesses to the crime. According to Mannheim police, there were 50 reports from the public until March 13. Presumably, thanks to the information received from caring people, it was possible to establish where the missing child was.
On Wednesday, March 13, police detained two people in the Rhine-Neckar area – a 44-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman who were looking after a girl.
The child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors determined that she was fine, and a DNA test confirmed that the girl found was the daughter of the murdered Rita Razaz. The girl is now being taken care of by the local youth department.
The detained couple is suspected of the brutal murder of a Ukrainian woman, so by court decision they will be kept in custody while the investigation continues.
Rita’s mother, Marina Stetsenko, has not yet been found. The police believe that she may have witnessed the murder of her daughter and is therefore hiding, fearing for her life.
Margarita Razaz has a younger sister left in Ukraine. Friends and relatives of the murdered woman have launched a fundraiser to transport the body home for burial.
