At the end of May, hackers of the Main Directorate intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense carried out a large-scale DDoS attack aimed at Russian providers. Russians complain and call her “the most powerful in history.”

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, during the attack without At least 250 thousand subscribers remained in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea. Both subscriber networks and operators who used the affected infrastructure were under attack.
According to the general director of one of the Russian operators, most subscribers remained without communication for more than two days. Representatives of providers stated difficulties during communication with subscribers, since they refused to provide operators with their current information, fearing scammers. In particular, 20% refused to upgrade network equipment that could protect them from attacks in the future.
The Miranda Media provider suffered the most. Its subscribers did not have access to communications and were unable to pay for services due to the defeat of the billing system. Access to the network is limited in Crimea, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
The GUR added that similar hacker attacks also continued in June.
