Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones are the most popular in Russia. This was reported by the newspaper “Vedomosti” with reference to informed sources.
The first place in sales of smartphones in units in September was taken by Samsung. Xiaomi took the second place, pushing Huawei's subsidiary Honor. This is evidenced by the statistics of a partner of several electronics manufacturers, the reliability of which was confirmed by two sources in the market. The interlocutors of Vedomosti reported a decrease in consumer interest in Huawei and Honor devices. In a number of reasons for the weakening of the positions of Chinese manufacturers, experts named the absence of branded Google services on devices.
The increased demand for Xiaomi smartphones was confirmed by representatives of retailers and operators. According to “M.Video-Eldorado”, sales of devices of the Chinese company in pieces grew by about 90 percent in nine months. According to MTS, for the third quarter of the year, Samsung smartphones accounted for 28.2 percent, Xiaomi and Honor products – 14.9 and 13.8 percent, respectively. Strengthening the position of the Xiaomi brand was fixed in Beeline, Megafon, Svyaznoy and Tele2.
“Some decline” in the dynamics of sales of devices Honor and Huawei was noted by the representative of the chain of stores “Citylink” Sergey Vorzov. A source in one of the Russian retailers said that the cheap Honor 9a, 9c and 9s smartphones that came out in May failed to sell, which forced the chain of stores to look for an alternative for phones.
According to Denis Kuskov, general director of the Telecom Daily agency, Huawei's further success depends on how the company develops its ecosystem. However, the expert noted that a certain proportion of Huawei and Honor users have already passed to Samsung and Xiaomi. Konstantin Ankilov, general director of TMT Consulting, said that the decline in consumer interest in Huawei and Honor is largely due to the lack of Google services brands on smartphones.
Earlier it became known that smartphones from Apple and Samsung were the most demanded in the world market. According to the agency ComprarAcciones, the most popular device in the first half of 2020 was the iPhone 11. The second and third positions are occupied by the Samsung Galaxy A51 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, respectively.
