The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Russia has prepared requirements for weapons for self-defense, which are both imported into Russia and produced domestically. This is reported by TASS with reference to the corresponding draft order of the department.
We are talking about the required parameters for traumatic and gas pistols and revolvers, mechanical sprayers and aerosol devices, as well as stun guns. So, firearms of limited destruction (the so-called trauma) should not be converted from firearms, and also have a design that can be converted into firearms.
In addition, a traumatic weapon should not have a design that allows the barrel to be disconnected from the body part or the bolt – fixation should be done with steel pins. The traumatized person must not shoot firearms cartridges and metal-cored cartridges. On spent cartridges there should be signs that could identify this type of weapon.
Similar requirements are set for gas weapons. Mechanical dispensers, aerosols and other devices should not have a shape that would imitate firearms, and gas pistols and cans should have a brightly colored body. Electric shock devices must be marked with individual numbers only on the metal parts of the product. nor should they be manufactured in the form of a combat weapon.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing changes in the forensic requirements for weapons and ammunition. The order reads to approve the attached forensic requirements for the technical characteristics of the weapon, agreed upon with Rosgvardia and Rosstandart. This applies to civilian and service weapons, as well as cartridges for them. The innovations will not affect weapons of cultural value, including copies of antique weapons and replicas of old weapons.
In December, a bill was introduced to the State Duma, according to which everyone who wants to receive firearms will have to go through an inspection by the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The purpose of this check will be to identify persons involved in organized crime. If the check establishes the possibility of using weapons for illegal purposes, the data on this will be transferred to the Russian Guard, which, in turn, may refuse to issue a permit for one year.
