It is not planned to extend the winter holidays in Russian schools for several days due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Education Sergei Kravtsov, he is quoted by Interfax.

“As for the extension of the (winter) holidays due to the pandemic, this is not planned, we are not discussing this issue,” he said.

According to the minister, it is planned to resume the educational process on time and in full-time format. “Remote format in exceptional cases, if it is associated with an epidemiological situation (according to COVID-19). So far we do not see any situation in order to use this format or extend the holidays, “explained Kravtsov.

Winter holidays in the current academic year will begin on December 29 and will last until January 8.

Earlier, Kravtsov also commented on the departure of schoolchildren for early holidays. He said that each region of Russia independently makes a decision about leaving schools for early holidays in connection with the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection.
