“When we made the decision of the SCRF (to renew licenses), we introduced a very strict restriction on the supply, starting from 2023, in the communication network of foreign base stations. stations only, “- said Shadayev.

According to him, the Ministry of Digital Industry held complex negotiations with the main manufacturers of base stations, and with two of them they agreed on the localization of production in Russia, transfer of rights to Russian partners for the production of modern base stations of the LTE standard. Among possible Russian producers, he named Rostec and AFK Sistema.

“We think that this will significantly reduce the dependence of such a critical telecommunications infrastructure on foreign manufacturers, reduce sanctions risks and, most importantly, use the production opportunities that are now being created in the part of microelectronics, the electronic component base so that we integrate these components. filled those base stations that will be installed on the communication networks with them, “the minister said.

In September, cellular operators will expire their LTE licenses. Shadayev said in June that the ministry is considering the possibility of introducing restrictions when renewing licenses, under which operators will be able to install only Russian-made LTE base stations.
