The Russian Ministry of Defense has decided to deploy a system of over-the-horizon “Container” stations along the country's border. These stations can detect aircraft of a potential enemy at a distance of three thousand kilometers. This was announced on Thursday, August 26, by the General Director of the RTI Systems Concern Yuri Anoshko at Army-2021.
– The military department made a decision that a whole system will be deployed, within the framework of this task, work is being carried out to create new stations. They will be deployed along our border. Radar “Container” use a range of wavelengths from tens to hundreds of meters, which are re-reflected from the ionosphere. Due to this, the stations can “look” beyond the radio horizon, – explained Yuri Anoshko in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He added that the first such station was built in Mordovia. It allows you to monitor, in particular, the territory of Europe. The station can “see” any aircraft, including the stealth class, and the detection range reaches three thousand kilometers.
The day before, Denis Manturov said that the Russian aviation industry, by order of the Ministry of Defense, had begun the development of a new Doomsday aircraft, which will replace the Il-80.
