In Buryatia, at the training ground of the village of Sosnovy Bor, sea trials of a heavy Soviet tank IS-2 “Joseph Stalin” during the war were carried out. The combat vehicle was restored by the engineers of the repair battalion of the Eastern Military District, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported.
During the sea trials of the IS-2, the servicemen adjusted the clutch and friction clutches, overcame several difficult obstacles, checking all the tank's life support systems in various modes. The engine, steering, braking system and cooling system were operating normally.
The IS-2 heavy tank during the war was previously removed from the pedestal in the village of Sosnovy Bor. The military masters managed to restore the tank and put it on the move. It is expected that the vehicle will take part in training for the Victory Day parade at the Vostochny airfield, and after that it will be part of a mechanized convoy of equipment on the Sovetov Square on May 9 in Ulan-Ude.
