Alexander Tkachenko
Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko welcomed the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to block the TV channels 112 Ukraine, ZIK and NewsOne. It is reported by “Interfax-Ukraine”.
“This case is exceptional but timely. And not only because of information terrorism and the threat to the security of Ukraine, these instruments of the Kremlin's propaganda. But also because of massive violations of journalistic standards, fakes and manipulations, ”Tkachenko said.
He considered that the NSDC decision is a symmetrical response to the daily information and propaganda attacks on Ukrainian freedom and independence. “This is the logical conclusion of the investigation of the temporary commission of inquiry, in which I participated while I was still a people's deputy. Then we found out how the transactions took place when the owners of 112, ZIK and NewsOne TV channels were changed, which today belong to one person – the right hand of [Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform – For Life Viktor] Medvedchuk party, deputy Taras Kozak, ”the minister said.
Tkachenko expressed confidence that the blocked TV channels are not ordinary television broadcasters: “This is, in fact, a foreign propaganda machine that was formed in Ukraine and indirectly financed by Moscow, where freedom of speech has long ceased to be discussed, and some journalists have become Kremlin soldiers.” …
Earlier it became known that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy put into effect the NSDC decision on the application of sanctions against several TV channels: 112 Ukraine and regional channels under its logo, as well as ZIK and NewsOne. After his decree, they stopped broadcasting. Personal sanctions have also been imposed on Taras Kozak, a deputy from the Opposition Platform – For Life party, who owns the Novosti media holding.
