The military expert criticized the “couch experts” who announced the flights of the American reconnaissance drone over the Crimea during the recent exercises of the Ministry of Defense. Then restrictions on flights near the Russian peninsula were introduced. The ban applied to heights up to 19 thousand meters.
However, rumors appeared on the Web that the American reconnaissance vehicle Global Hawk allegedly flew into the restricted area and even descended to an altitude of 15 thousand meters.
Military analyst Alexei Leonkov said these rumors were not true. His opinion is conveyed by “MK”.
“The assumption that the Global Hawk flew into the restricted area is a fiction. Not a single sane military leader will send such an apparatus to a closed area where such large-scale military exercises are held for one simple reason: those who conduct these maneuvers will have a great temptation to shoot down this “bird”. And on completely legal grounds. Shoot it down and then properly study: what is this “bird”? How is everything arranged inside her? ” – said Leonkov and specified that the drone could fly near the exercise area, in the border zone.
The Americans were interested in how our fortified area works in the Crimea. But the essence of the layered defense system Global Hawk did not reveal. Moreover, the apparatus itself became an object of study.
“All our own intelligence systems tracked this American apparatus very well. Once again we updated our databases about him, about the work of his systems. He was perfectly visible, we reach, and if he really flew into the forbidden zone, he would also “shoot down”, – the expert noted.
According to him, the drone would have been shot down by the Buk-M2, Tor, S-300 or S-400 complexes.
Leonkov added that the price of such a spy is $ 140 million, and the Americans will not risk it.
