Taiwanese Kye Systems, owner of the Genius computer peripherals brand, denied information about leaving the Russian market. The company explained that it closed its representative office due to a change in its business model, but the Russian market remains one of the most important for it. Kye also stressed that despite the difficulties caused by the coronavirus, Genius sales in Russia continue to grow.
The company will continue its presence in Russia, cooperating with distributors ASBIS Enterprises and Marvel CT, Ferra.ru magazine reported, citing a statement from Genius. In the next few months, the brand has promised to launch new products on the market.
The fact that Genius may leave Russia became known in August. A source for Kommersant reported that the brand could not compete with other manufacturers and reduced its market share from 15% to 3%. According to him, the decline was recorded in both quantitative and monetary terms.
Representatives of Genius explained that the source misinterpreted the information received and misled the media.
