The man who stole two chocolates demanded ten years in prison

by alex

In the Slovak region of Kisuce, a man stole two chocolates from a store, for which he faces up to ten years in prison. Reported by TV Markíza.

Due to the state of emergency established in the country, the prosecutor's office demands such a severe punishment for theft, the damage from which does not exceed a few euros.

A relative of a man awaiting trial believes that the punishment in this case is disproportionate to the crime. She is going to ask for help from the President of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova, while noting that she will not seek full release. However, the head of state will be able to influence the situation only if a conviction is issued, and if the convicted person personally applies to her with a request for clemency.

The TV channel reminds that earlier a Slovak homeless man found himself in a similar situation, who faces 15 years in prison for a stolen burger costing 2.20 euros. The man, who had previously been caught stealing food several times, was declared a repeat offender and taken into custody.
