The development of 5G will continue in 2022, but the shortage of smartphones will remain. This is reported by the TechRadar edition.
The publication's specialists named the main trends that will be relevant in the mobile industry in 2022. Ericsson estimates the 5G subscriber base will grow, reaching 600 million units by the end of the year. At the same time, due to the shortage of components on the market, there will be a shortage of smartphones with support for fifth generation communications.
It is also expected that cellular operators around the world will continue to consolidate to reduce the cost of deploying and maintaining base stations. In 2022, representatives of medium and large businesses will begin to actively use 5G.
Experts interviewed by journalists believe that in the new year 5G and other new technologies and standards will be focused on sustainable development and the environment. “Switching to renewable energy sources, adopting more energy efficient grid standards will reduce the carbon footprint,” the report says. According to Deloitte experts, smartphone manufacturers in 2022 will be involved in the emission of 146 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. “This is less than 0.5 percent of global emissions, but this figure can be reduced,” the authors summed up.
At the end of November, analysts from the NatWest research company listed the main trends of the future. The authors attributed to them new methods of diagnosing and treating diseases, the emergence of unmanned capsules and air taxi, the introduction of interactive holograms for teaching schoolchildren and students.
