China's goal is to stop a war that is spiraling out of control.
It is reported by the BBC.
Asked about a media notice that Russia is asking China for military assistance, a Chinese embassy spokesman said Beijing is focused on keeping the war in Ukraine from getting out of hand .
Reuters, citing embassy spokesman Liu Penyu , said that the situation in Ukraine is indeed confusing.
“Now the first priority is to prevent the tense situation from escalating or even spiraling out of control,” he said.
Earlier on Sunday, media outlets reported that US officials believe Russia has invited military supplies from China to help in the war effort, as well as economic support.
In turn, Advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak reacted to media reports about Russia's appeal to China for help.
Podolyak noted that against the backdrop of an extremely failed ground operation in Ukraine, the reputation of the Russian Federation is simply worthless.
