Attracting the ground forces of neighboring Belarus< /strong> to war against Ukraine remains the blue dream of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The situation remains unchanged for now.
A representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Andrei Yusov stated this at a press conference.
“Putin's big dream remains to involve the Belarusian army in ground operations on the side of the Russian occupiers against Ukraine. However, during the entire period of the full-scale invasion, despite direct and indirect persuasion, Putin's pressure did not achieve this. Now the situation is not has changed,” he emphasized.
However, Yusov notes, this is not a reason to relax. According to him, regarding the interaction between Russia and Belarus, the transfer of weapons, equipment, and ammunition was recorded. However, the ground army of Belarus was not and is not involved in the war.
“We, of course, are monitoring the situation on the border – as regards the Belarusian direction in general. So far the situation is unchanged. Everything else is to attract attention and exaggerate, or emphasize: what is known for sure is that tomorrow they will attack from Belarus. We have gone through this many times and encountered this,” Yusov emphasized.
Currently, various types of training and interaction continue between countries. However, such actions, Yusov says, are to a certain extent propaganda in nature.
“We are talking about the so-called union state. About the maximum level of integration of the security and defense sectors. This remains and will remain,” says Yusov.
As reported, Belarus is building a military camp 40 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. This is due to the fact that Russia is preparing for a new wave of mobilization – even greater than in 2022.
