The founder of the DLBI leak intelligence service, Ashot Hovhannisyan, revealed the main danger of voice assistants. It is reported by the Prime agency.
According to him, the voice assistant constantly listens to the surrounding area in anticipation of commands and can record everything that happens nearby. Hovhannisyan noted that most of the assistants send information in one form or another to the company that created them. The specialist emphasized that already in the company itself, user data can be stored for an unlimited period and processed by third parties who do not always adhere to the privacy policy.
The expert said that voice assistants also often collect all information about the operating system of a computer or smartphone. He added that there is always a danger of inappropriate actions of such an assistant, who is guided by fuzzy logic. So, if the assistant is connected to a smart home or alarm, then he can turn off the security system or turn on the heating in an empty house.
Earlier it was reported that a vulnerability was found in Amazon's virtual voice assistant Alexa (Alexa), with the help of which the system was hacked. According to Check Point, this compromised the data security of 200 million homes using Alexa-powered devices. The vulnerability was found in the skills component, which allows users to install additional functions developed by third-party vendors into the system.
