The Lithuanian authorities have extended the ban on movement around the country until the end of January
The Lithuanian authorities have extended the ban on movement around the country imposed by the coronavirus epidemic until the end of January, TASS reports.
This issue was discussed on Sunday at a government meeting. The Minister of the Interior Agne Bilotaite made a proposal to extend the restrictive measures.
“The experts' arguments unambiguously indicate that it is too early to lift the ban on movement between municipalities,” she said.
As the agency clarifies, this ban was introduced in the country on December 16. Citizens are allowed to move only in the territory of the municipality where they live. You can leave the territorial unit only for travel to work, to funerals of loved ones, to medical institutions and airports.
There are about 250 checkpoints in the country. In addition, mobile patrols control the movement of citizens.
On the first day of the year, police officers deployed more than 2,000 vehicles and fined 12 drivers.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the Chinese city of Heihe in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang decided to suspend the work of urban public transport due to the worsening situation with COVID-19.
