Lawyer Alexander Ostrovsky, together with Artur Ramazanov, representing the interests of referee Nikita Danchenkov, who was beaten by former Russian national team player Roman Shirokov, commented on the sentence to the player. His words are quoted by “Championship.com”.

According to Ostrovsky, the verdict on Shirokov is related to his political position. The lawyer also recalled the story of Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev, who spent about a year in prison for having staged a fight in the center of Moscow. “If they also gave patriotic interviews, they would have gotten off much easier,” concluded Ostrovsky.
