In Latvia, they call for a decision to stop issuing Schengen tourist visas to Russian citizens at the EU level European Union.
The initiative was taken by the Prime Minister of Latvia, Krisjanis Karins. Thus, he wants to strengthen sanctions against the aggressor Russia.

According to the head of the government of Latvia, the decision should be centralized at the level of the European Union.
By the way, Latvia announced the suspension of issuing visas to Russian and Belarusian citizens last week. Subsequently, Estonia also joined these two Baltic countries. Tallinn announced that, with some exceptions, it was suspending the issuance of visas to Russian citizens.
In addition, the Czech Republic suspended the issuance of visas to Russian citizens. Official thirst made such a decision on February 25 – the day after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
As reported, the Sejm of Latvia recognized Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. It also officially called on the EU countries limit the issuance of visas to citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
